Essentially the most seen device at a busy bar is the Boston cocktail shaker. It consists of two elements — a steel tin and a mixing glass. The 2 parts provide the perfect of each worlds: good chilling potential with the chrome steel, and a transparent view of the components within the clear glass.
They create a great seal when used correctly, and they’re simple to wash. It does require talent to open after mixing the drink and doesn’t include a strainer — you may want a separate Hawthorne strainer to get all of the bits out of your cocktail.
The Cobbler, named after the Cobbler cocktail in style within the 1800s, is a three-piece shaker that has a built-in strainer and a cap. The cap protects the drink from spilling and might even be used to measure out alcohol. The Cobbler might be tougher to wash due to the built-in strainer, and the cap can typically get caught.
Lastly, the French, just like the Cobbler, is a two-piece shaker. It has a steel tin and a tulip-shaped steel cap, however no strainer. It provides a great seal, is simple to wash, and is much less vulnerable to leakage than the Boston shaker.
